  • Chichester Cathedral – a magnificent building with beautiful Marc Chagall stained glass window, nice refectory behind for lunch/coffee & Bishops Garden (also behind) is pretty walled garden.
  • Fishbourne Roman Palace – fantastic Roman mosaic floors etc
  • West Wittering Beach – great beach for walks & swims,
  • Goodwood Sculpture Park – about £10 to get in but well worth a visit
  • Pallant House Gallery in Chichester – new wing housing contempory collection that recently won Gulbenkian prize.
  • West Dean Gardens – beautiful Victorian walled garden
  • Weald & Downland Musem – next to West Dean, old farm buildings from various periods, nicely laid out to walk around.
  • Arundel – about 20 min. drive away but it's got the Castle, lots of antiques, nice restaurants
  • Uppark House – National Trust stately home
  • Portsmouth Ancient Dockyard – Mary Rose, Victory etc
  • Spinnaker Tower – Gunwharf Quay, a great landmark & fun to go up on a clear day.
  • Some excellent walks...

  • Out of the house and around shoreline & you can get ferry over to Itchenor & continue walking shoreline on that side – you can walk all the way to the Witterings.
  • Many footpaths to follow
  • Kingley Vale – long walks up to ancient tumuli & good views if you make it to the top!
